day 5

LONDON

/diary

On the 6th of April the second trip to London was on our plan. We all met at 9.00 am at the police station in Cambridge. Some of us came by taxi and some students walked because buses do not run early on Sunday mornings. A coach took us to the capital of the United Kingdom, London. Finally, after an hour and a half, we arrived at Camden Market. The teachers told us that we had about two hours time to go shopping, eat some food and relax. It was amazing to see how the shop assistants allured us and we had to deal very cleverly. The only negative thing about Camden Market was that there were too many people. Afterwards we went to the next location ... the biggest museum in the United Kingdom ... the British Museum. There, the teachers gave us two and a half hour to explore the fascinating museum and to find out something about the history of the building and its exhibits. It was a great experience, but the next attraction was more exciting for all of us.The bus-driver took us to Madame Tussauds. We took a lot of photos with and of the celebrities and stars, for example Queen Elisabeth II, Barack Obama or Michael Jackson.

After Madame Tussauds all of us were very tired. At Cambridge, one after the other couple left the bus and we walked home to our host families.

THE BRITISH MUSEUM

MADAME TUSSAUDS

On the fifth day we went to London again. Because it was Sunday almost no bus run and so we asked our host family, how long it would take us,if we walked. They told us that it would take us 20 min and so we walked. In the end we had to run because we nearly missed the bus. We rode for quite some time by coach until we arrived at a strange place. It was Camden Market. Camden Market is a big market with many different shops. You could buy nearly everything like clothes, food, toys, …..We were allowed to spent 3 hours at this market. All in all, it was funny because many people looked quite strange, but there were also very scary people, who wanted to sell strange things, we did not know.In the early afternoon we went to the British Museum, which was really big and old fashioned. You could learn much about different countries in this museum, like Japan, Africa, America….., but I think it was not really interesting for kids at our age. Finally, we arrived at Madame Tussauds. Madame Tussauds is a waxfigure museum, where you can “meet musicians and famous or popular people”. To be honest, for me they did not look so real, but it was funny to take pictures with or of them. The thing that really shocked me was that there was a waxfigure of Adolf H.! There was also a horrorhouse, which was not really scary, it was extremely boring to be honest. At the end we went into a 4D cinema, which was very exciting. When we went back home to our host families it began to rain and so we could not meet up with friends that day. That was annoying! So we had dinner with Manuela in the evening and went to bed early.
